Pakistan faces significant challenges, MDIMF

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said some countries, such as Pakistan, were facing significant difficulties.

Kristalina Georgieva said at a special meeting of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia that there are two messages from the IMF during this meeting of the World Economic Forum.

He said that despite the difficulties of recent years, growth and the economy are good, we have improved our growth estimates for this year, America’s performance in advanced economies is good.

Kristalina Georgieva said emerging markets such as Indonesia, Malaysia and India also performed well, while China’s first-quarter performance was better than expected.

He said that Egypt is better now, but it also has problems, the condition of low-income countries is getting worse, the world lost 3.3 trillion dollars due to the Corona epidemic.

MDIMF said that low income countries are more affected by the economic loss due to Corona, there are 3 priorities for us right now.

He also says that the first priority is to get inflation on target in countries where inflation is high. They have managed to reduce inflation to some extent, but there is still work to be done.

MDIMF said that our second priority is to focus on fiscal deficit control, fiscal deficit control is a very challenging phase.

He further stated that our third priority is to find more ways of cooperation.
