Somali pirates have released a seized Bangladeshi-flagged cargo ship with 23 crew members after receiving a $5 million ransom.

The $5 million ransom packed in 3 bags was thrown from the plane onto a cargo ship.

The cargo ship MV Abdullah, after being released, left for its destination under the supervision of 2 ships of the European Union.

Somali pirates have assured that they will not attack the ship again until it reaches the port of Dubai.

In March, Somali pirates hijacked a ship on its way from Mozambique to the United Arab Emirates.

The CEO of the shipping company negotiated the release of the cargo ship and crew.

He said footage was provided of the entire crew being safe, and after paying a ransom, about 65 pirates boarded nine boats and abandoned ship on Sunday morning.
