The first convoy of Haj pilgrims left Delhi, all flights completed

A total of 1,75,025 pilgrims will perform Hajj this year, out of which 1,40,025 pilgrims will be sponsored by the Government of India. In addition to them, 35,000 pilgrims will go to Háj through private tour operators.

The departure of pilgrims for Hajj 2024 began today (May 9). The first Saudi Airlines flight carrying Hajj pilgrims departed from Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to Saudi Arabia at 2:20 am. On this occasion, officers and members of the Hajj Committee were present at the airport.

The pilgrims were decorated by a group of Bharat Scouts and Guides appointed by the Delhi State Haj Committee and sent behind a guard of honour. A total of 285 pilgrims left for Hajj in the first convoy. A total of 1,75,025 pilgrims will go to perform Hajj this year, out of which 1,40,025 pilgrims will be sponsored by the Government of India. In addition to them, 35,000 pilgrims will go to Háj through private tour operators.

It should be noted that Haj pilgrims depart from a total of 20 tourist destinations across India. In the first phase, the return of pilgrims from Delhi will begin from June 22.
