City 42: In the last T20 match between Pakistan and New Zealand, fans at the Gaddafi Stadium were in a state of agony until Mohammad Amir ran out the last batsman, Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi was among those applauding the victory for the green shirts.

In the last four overs of the last T20 between Pakistan and New Zealand, the whole of Pakistan, including the fans watching the match at the Gaddafi Stadium and the fans watching the match on TV at home, was in a state of anxiety. The angst continued until the last over when Ben Sayers got to the first wide ball in the 20th over to run away from Mohammad Amir, the fans were still nervous as Josh Clarkson hit a six in the last over to score 36 runs from 25 balls. Mohammad Amir did not allow any runs on the second ball but the tension in the stadium remained. On the next ball, Josh Clarkson tried to score two runs with a strike at mid-wicket, but on the second run, Will O’Rourke ran out to the bowler’s end.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi also watched the last T20 match between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium. Like all Pakistani fans, Mohsin Naqvi took a deep breath and applauded his team with great joy when the last New Zealand batsman was dismissed on the second ball of the last over.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Ahmad Khan, CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamiana, Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhawa, former caretaker provincial minister Aamir Mir and Chief Journalist Naseem Zahra also stood and applauded the national team for the team’s success.

Losing this match would see Pakistan lose the T20 series against New Zealand and losing the T20 series during Pakistan’s tour of New Zealand would heal the wound.
