Ancient Olympia (Jang News) The rehearsal for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games torch lighting ceremony was held in the ancient city of Olympia, Greece. In a traditional ceremony, Greek actress Mary Mena dressed up as a priest and used sunlight to light a glass torch in front of the ruins of a 2,500-year-old temple. He symbolically prayed on the occasion that God would bring peace to the world and help Paris host a successful Games. Then the priests handed over the torch and the olive branch to the first torchbearer. The official lighting of the torch at the Paris Olympics will take place on Tuesday, followed by a torch relay across Greece, with Greek organizers handing over the flame to the French delegation in a ceremony at the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens on 26 April. Dancers, musicians and support staff worked for months on this event. The Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11.
